The Best Gifts for Baby Boys

There are a few things I always look for when putting together baby gift ideas. I love toys that give little hands something to explore, books that can grow into a well-loved little library, and practical finds that parents will actually use over and over again.

Of course, I’m also fully in favor of buying something simply because it’s ridiculously cute. 😂

These baby boy gifts include a mix of fun, practical and developmental finds for different stages throughout that first year.

Elliott the Fawn

I mean, look at him. 🥹 Elliott the Fawn is one of those gifts that feels extra special and looks just as sweet sitting on a nursery shelf as he does tucked under a little arm. I especially love this one if you’re looking for a keepsake-style baby gift rather than another toy that will eventually end up at the bottom of the toy bin.

My Little Locomotive Library

My Little Locomotive Library

This might be one of my favorite finds in the entire guide. The little wooden train holds a collection of board books, so it doubles as something cute enough to display in the nursery and a way to start building baby’s first library. It would make such a sweet baby shower or first birthday gift.

Pineapple Sensory Stacker

A stacking toy, but make it a pineapple. 😂 The different textures, colors and pieces give babies plenty to explore while they work on grasping, stacking and fine motor skills. It’s cheerful without being something I’d immediately want to hide in a basket when playtime is over.

You really can’t go wrong with muslin swaddles for a new baby. They’re useful for everything from swaddling and stroller rides to nursing, tummy time and those inevitable baby messes. I love the soft neutral patterns in this set because they’re cute without feeling overly themed.

Mushie Vehicle Bath Toys, cute gifts for baby boys

Mushie Vehicle Bath Toys

These little cars and trucks are almost too cute to designate as bath toys only. The soft vehicle shapes are easy for little hands to grab and turn bath time into another opportunity for play. They’re also a fun pick if you want a baby boy gift that isn’t another stuffed animal or blanket.

Mushie Shape Sorter

I love a toy that can stick around as baby grows, and this one gives little hands plenty to figure out. Babies can explore the shapes and textures at first, then work on pushing and pulling the pieces through the elastic sides as their coordination develops.

Muslin Burp Cloths, practical gifts for baby boys

Muslin Burp Cloths

Maybe not the flashiest gift in the guide, but ask any new parent how many burp cloths are too many. 😂 These soft muslin cloths are one of those practical gifts that will actually get used constantly, and the muted green color is so pretty.

Melissa & Doug Caterpillar Gear Toy

This soft little barn is filled with animal friends that babies can pull out, explore and eventually practice putting back into their matching spots. I also love that everything stores back inside the barn when playtime is over.

A practical gift that parents can actually use night after night. This wearable sleep sack gives baby a cozy extra layer without adding loose blankets to the crib, and I love including something useful like this alongside all the fun toys and books.

Baby Play Gym

A play gym can become one of the most-used spots in the house during those early months. This one gives baby a dedicated space for tummy time, reaching, kicking and exploring different sights and textures as they grow. It’s definitely one of the bigger gifts on the list, but also one that can get a ton of use.
