Blogging as a New Mother: Era of the Nap Time Blogger

Nap Time Blogger: Teddy Bear sitting on a bed

If you’ve stumbled upon the “about me” section on my blog, you’ll notice I refer to myself as a nap time blogger. But what does that mean, really? In this chaotic season of motherhood, the only time that I truly have to myself is when my child is sleeping. And that is okay! There will never be a time that my son needs me more, so I try to cherish this short season of my life for what it is.

Naturally, of course I would choose to start a blog when I had a newborn (note the sarcasm), because that’s just how I roll! The irony was not lost on me. Armed with a sense of humor and a rebellious spirit against the mundane, I embarked on this blogging journey amidst the diaper changes and q 2 hour feedings. Most things I do seem to be a little bit backwards and against the norm. But again, that’s okay! Normal is boring anyway.

Multitasking Falls Short

Creating is my special haven, a place where I find solace and connection. Life’s experiences have molded me into a multitasking maestro, but blogging requires a unique focus. It has become my cas isolé, an exception to the rule. Unless I’m sitting in complete silence and giving it my full attention, the words refuse to dance onto the screen, and ideas linger just out of reach. You can see why deciding to blog after becoming a fresh first time mom was not ideal for me.

Era of the Nap Time Blogger

Welcome to the era of the nap time blogger. As my little one drifts off to sleep, I sneak out into the living room. Armed with my laptop and the comforting aroma of my second (or third) cup of coffee, I carve out a haven of peace in the midst of the chaos. It’s not just a routine. It has become something I look forward to every single day. I encourage you to find something equivalent for yourself if you don’t have one already!

As I dance between the realms of motherhood and blogging, I find myself falling in love with both. I wear my title of Nap Time Blogger with pride. It stands as evidence of my adaptability, my knack for discovering peace amid chaos, and a joyous acknowledgment of the distinctive rhythm that shapes my life. I get lost in my laptop until I hear my favorite small voice call out “Ma?” from the bedroom, signaling that nap time is over. Then I close my computer until next time. I recognize this challenging season of my life as a fresh canvas, unveiling layers of self-discovery along the way. I can’t wait to see what unfolds!

Nap time is wonderful, isn’t it? I’m a stay-at-home mompreneur with 2 year-old twins, and nap times are treasured around here. I get it.
